There are a few wireless carriers that don't allow for landline phone numbers to be transferred directly onto their network. You can view the list here along with a workaround for unsupported carriers here.
Navigate to the manage phone numbers section in your account. For security reasons all phone numbers are initially locked and can only be unlocked once and not re-locked. You'll receive confirmation usually within 24-hours that your phone number is successfully unlocked.
Existing service:
Contact your phone providers Port Department and tell them that you'd like to replace your current phone number with your custom
If you don't have service yet then you will provide your custom phone number details upon signing up for service with a new line.
The initial transfer into a wireless carrier can take between 3-7 business days. Transfers after that are usually instant. This is a good time to prepare any necessary updates to business cards.
Your new custom phone number will be active and ready to receive calls on your wireless provider. Nothing else to do!
